Editing the macro model
Creating a variant of an existing infrastructure
In the case of long term timetable planning and infrastructure investment planning, it will be necessary to create infrastructure alternatives. New infrastrcuture models can be created by cloning an existing infrastructure release. This will create an independent, second macroscopic model, which can be edited without affecting other preexisting models. Once all necessary edits are made, a new infrastructure relase can be made.
It is also possible to create a new infrastructure model without inheriting Lines or OCPs from a preexisting model.
Updating the infrastructure model
To update an infrastrcuture model the necessary modifications can be made directly in the editor. This will overwrite the previous content, but if changes have been made inadvertendly, it is possible to clone the previous infrastructure release to return to a previous state without modification.
If the modifications are right and proper, a new infrastrcuture relaese can be created, rendering the new infrastructure model available to be used for new scenarios.
Once the release is published, an existing scenario can be duplicated. In the duplication process, the new release can "replace" the old one. This will only work if both releases are resonably similar. For example: If the new release contains modifications such as deleted Lines or new infeasible paths which are used by trains in the old scenario, it will not duplicate the trains correctly into the new scenario. The duplication process will give errors and remain incomplete. New OCP tracks or new lines can be added without a problem.
Important considerations
The update of an existing macro model or the creation of a new model will very often require changes to the microscopic model, too. If these changes are not made, the RTC and other related functions might not work properly. To correctly update the micro model in trenissimo, please consult your internally responsible colleague, your TRENOlab contact person or the trenissimo manual in Atlassin: https://trenolab.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TRENISSIMO/pages/1049182/Create+and+edit+the+microscopic+infrastructure+model+trenissimo
