Train searches
Train searches allow for more sophisticated filtering of trains and to save the filtering criteria. The train has two modes:
- search by train codes or train number
- search by criteria
The search by train code / train number is straightforward, a comma-seperated list is inserted in the respective field. It is possible to use the "*" as substitute for characters. If both fields are used, only trains matching both are shown, i.e. an intersection of the two sets is formed.
The search by criteria search mode offers more generalisation and is divided in three parts:
- Add or subtract: The search can combine different criteria, and it is possible to add or subtract from the results of the previous step. The first step of the search is always "Add". Click Add step to include a second step to the train search.
- General train characteristics: The trains that meet the criteria defined are caught by the search step.
- Reference section: The reference section allows to restrict the trains on a geographic part of the network, certain entry types and in a period of time.
Don't forget to save the criteria as it is not automatically saved. The executed train search gives a list of train codes, which can be used for various further purposes, such as:
- selection in the timetable window and multiple edit operations.
- simulation setup
- TAF/TAP or RailML export
- Reports creation
- Analysis functions
Additional notes on Operating days in the train search
The Operating days have different options to select. It is possible to insert a period of days, a custom selction or "All". If nothing is selected, the filter is not active and all trains will be returned as result. If a period and a custom selection of days are selected, both criteria results will be included (union of both sets).
The custom calendar offers the possibility to search not only for trains operating of specific dates but also for trains NOT operating on specific dates. By clicking twice on the date it will turn yellow and therefore indicate a search for "trains not running on this date". This search option is only excluding trains and will never add trains to the result. It can, for example, be used to identify trains that run on Monday - Friday schedule, but not weekends, identifying those additional services.
The Operating days search is exclusively executed based on the Operating Days and not on the "Running Days" for trains running beyond midnight.
Train searches and real data
In some cases the train searches will be used to display real data in aggregated KPI. The Operating days have an additional function in these cases, as they will act as a filter also for the Real data. The "not running on" filter function as described above is not applicable in these conditions and eventual "yellow dates" will not return real data in the same way as "empty dates" will.
