Track occupation editing
Track occupation editing modes overview
TrenoLive offers two sets of editing modes: Draft mode and Direct mode. This manages the way changes to the track occupation diagram are saved.
Additionally, three planning modes are available: Yearly planning, Operating Calendar based planning and Single day planning. They organise on which operating days the trains are edited.
Editing mode (Darft or direct)
The standard editing mode is direct mode, meaning all changes are immidiately saved in the database. If necessary, the user can activate Draft mode, so changes are not immidiately saved, but only visualised and saved when the user decides to do so. The user also has the possibility to revert all changes.
Planning mode (Yearly, Operating Calendar, Single day)
The standard editing mode is yearly mode. Without in-depth knowledge about the consequences of Operating Calendar and Single day planning, it is not recommended to work with these planning modes.
Problems that can occur are listed below.
Single day planning mode
In single day planning a train variant is created for each OCP track modification. The variant is active for the single day selected as "Start time". The variant is created only when the following action is performed:
- Drag and drop editing (OCP track) of a train or a train variant (unconnected)
- Drag and drop editing (OCP track) of a connection between trains and train variants
No variant is created when a shunting movement or a train group course is moved. A new variant is created for each modification!
Operating Calendar planning mode
Same logic as with single day planning, but the created variant has an Activation bitmask and the Operating days of the Operating Calendar selected by the user.
Potential issues when working in Single day or Operating Calendar planning
- Train variants running after midnight (either with or without movement bitmask offset) might be created for different opeating days than the ones visualised in the diagram at the moment of editing.
- Every drag and drop action creates a new variant - even when working in Draft mode - and even if the train finishes in the same OCP track it was scheduled originally.
- Creating a variant will require a revision of all connections the train had previously (normally in Origin and Destination).
- To change the trainset (for example from single to double composition or vice versa) the variant should be created from the timetable page or the train editor.
- Shunting movements can not have variants.
